*Immediately after the match with Johnny Justice, Jack Gaither rushes over to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he runs into Dr. Russell.*
DOCTOR: Are you Mr. Jack Gaither?
Yes, I am.
I'm Dr. William Russell. We have just finished performing emergency surgery on your wife; she has suffered numerous life-threatening injuries to both of her lungs. Although the surgery was successful, she has lost the will to live.
Take me to see her please.
*The doctor takes Jack up to the 7th floor, and they slowly enter room #709, where Katherine is being held. Jack looks at her with sadness and disbelief as the doctor sits down and calmly observes for any signs of change; she is able to grab a hold of Jack's hand and speak.*
KATHERINE: (faint whisper) How did you do tonight?
I won...I won.
Good. Jack...I don't know...if I'll ever be able to...
Don't say that...please...
*Jack begins to tear up as he senses the inevitable.*
Jack...I will always...love you, but...I want you to do something for me: Go out...and win...the...World...Heavyweight...Title. Dynasty...is...forever. You...must...be...strong...because I...will always...be...there...to...love...you.
*Jack and Katherine look at each other's eyes for the last time, and then, Katherine's bright, blue eyes slowly close for a final time. Jack slumps over on a hospital room chair and breaks down in tears. The doctor moves over and takes a seat next to Jack.*
I'm sorry Mr. Gaither.
Thank you for trying doctor.
You're welcome. I'm very heartbroken to see something like this happen; in my 25 years in the medical field, I have never lost a patient who was in my care until tonight--especially someone with a very high stature. Me, my wife Kim, and my kids were all big fans of you and Katherine; Katherine was very special to all of us, and you should be very proud of all that she did to keep you balanced. My deepest sympathy goes out to you tonight for your loss, and we will do whatever we possibly can to help you.
Thank you so much.
*Jack leaves the room and heads back to the main lobby entrance. A waiting cab takes Jack over to his hotel room...which has a sense of emptiness to it.*
