*Immediately after dispatching David in a local bar, Sarah, Jack's new friend and bartender, offers to drive him back to his hotel; apparently, Jack has had one too many Bud Lights.*
SARAH: Here, I don't want you to drive; let me drive you to your hotel.
What about you? Who's gonna give you a ride back to home and work?
Erin will; she's a good friend of mine.
Cool. Let's get out of here.
*Sarah drives the truck to his hotel, where the valet picks it up and takes it to the parking area. Sarah follows a now-drunken Jack into his hotel room.*
Take care of yourself Jackie-boy, you hear? You're a great kid.
*Sarah gives Jack a short kiss.*
God bless you Sarah. Thanks for the ride.
*Sarah leaves the room, and now, for the first time in a long time, Jack is alone. He turns the TV on to an Indianapolis TV newscast and is horrified to see that the incident with David earlier has made the top stories.*
Good evening. Our top story begins in Evansville tonight as apparently, AWG superstar wrestler Jack "The Golden Eagle" Gaither got involved in a barroom fight earlier tonight. The victim in this case, thirty-year-old David Peterson, is considering whether or not to press assault charges against Mr. Gaither, who has a match against Max Power this Wednesday night at Evansville's Roberts Stadium; however, police questioned an eyewitness, 29-year-old Sarah Peterson--David's former wife, and she said that Mr. Gaither was provoked by Mr. Peterson in the incident. Police in Evansville have yet to question Mr. Gaither, but it is...
I'll be damned....I'LL BE DAMNED!
*As soon as Jack turns off the TV and goes to sleep, a loud knock on the door is heard.*
(KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK!)
POLICE: Evansville Police Department! Open up!
*Jack opens the door to find a burly-looking police officer; the officer shows his ID badge.*
OFFICER ERICKSON: I'm Officer Erickson, and you are Mr. Jack Gaither, right?
Yes sir.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to put you in handcuffs and take you outside for questioning regarding the incident at the Silver Palace Bar tonight.
Go ahead.
*Officer Erickson makes Jack put his hands behind his back, and the handcuffs are applied. They are soon outside the hotel, where a bandaged-up David, Sarah, and two more officers are waiting.*
OFFICER: OK, let's let Mr. Gaither tell his side of the story.
*After several hours of explaining the events to the cops outside, they decide to let Jack go, much to David's chagrin.*
OFFICER: Mr. Gaither, Ms. Peterson, the witness here, says that she and Mr. Peterson are divorced, and that Mr. Peterson had already come into the bar having too much to drink tonight. She says that David provoked you into attacking him, so here's what's gonna happen. I'm gonna take these cuffs off of you, and I'm going to let you go back to sleep, OK? We won't be filing any charges on anyone tonight. You just stay out of trouble now, you hear?
Yes sir!
*The officer takes the cuffs off of Jack as Sarah smiles at him; Jack acknowledges the smile with a nod. While Sarah hops into her friend's car, Jack goes back to sleep, knowing full-well that his situation could've been much worse.*
