Tommy Toretto picked up the nickname tank as a teenager playing high school football. He ran right through the line like a tank. It stuck with him as he joined the wrestling team and mowed right over the competition there as well too. His passion was always to be physical, and a knee injury sidelined him from sports his senior year. Toretto trained hard after his rehab, and a group of close friends gathered the money to pay for his wrestling license as well as for him to go to wrestling school. Tommy was eternally grateful, because this was the career he had always wanted, although he had accepted that he could not afford to train and be educated to do so. Once debuting for CWA, Tommy soonafter won the Television Title and held it for a record breaking four months. After losing the title, he set his sights on the World Title, but failed to attain it even though he tried three times! Tommy eventually won the Cruiserweight Title, but became bored with CWA after being told he would not likely get another World Title shot for a number of years to come. Toretto left CWA and joined XWF, immediately getting the chance to face the World Champion. Toretto beat him in a non title match for his debut in XWF, but Johnny Knox was too tough to be taken down twice, thus Toretto failed a fourth time to win the World Title. Management realized this guy was the real deal though, offering him a rematch in which he once again could not get the job done. Frustrated at not being able to get over this hump, Toretto asked for an extended leave from XWF, but did not retire. He went on a spree from promotion to promotion all across the country, vying to win his first World Title. Twenty Seven promotions later, Toretto realized that he needed to just return home to XWF and accept that he is not cut out for the World Title. When he got back to XWF though, the owner had been brutally murdered, as well as his family. The arena was set ablaze, and Toretto was under investigation. Being that he was out of town while this all happened, he was the prime suspect and was even subject to serving time while the investigation proceded. He was eventually cleared of all charges. Toretto was offered a pardon, but since he did nothing wrong to be in prison in the first place, his record was expunged.
