What KSE song doesn't kick other bands in the balls?
I can't think of one....

and let me just add that the KSE "Holy Diver" version kicks Dio's version in the balls As much as I love that song, I can't agree. It's pretty well impossible to do a remake better than the original. I mean, Ronnie James Dio DID write the song, ya know? Kinda like how I love Korn's remake of Another Brick in the Wall, but I can't go as far as to say that they did it better than Floyd. Also, Godsmack's remake of the Zepplin "Good Times Bad Times" tune is good, but not anywhere near being a threat for candidate on "better than the original." Keeping on the remakes, Disturbed remade "Land of Confusion" and "Shout" which both came out excellent. Manson has remade far too many songs to get into. I found something ya'll might like, a remake of Ozzy's Over The Mountain by......yes I am going to say it.....Fozzy. Six Feet Under, a heavy heavy hardcore band (*I'm not a fan*) remade "War Machine" by KISS and it's terrible. I haven't heard it yet, but I am about to get the recently released remake of the Police's "King of Pain." Oh yeah, MUDVAYNE did that remake, I am excited. Otep (Chic singer, hardcore-esque/very heavy) remade "Breed" by Nirvana. Very much enjoyable. Going old school for a minute, Rob Halford re-did "Mr. Crowley" by Ozzy, and it's DEFINITELY worth listening to. I just got this CD so I recommend it. Atreyu's new CD has a hidden track where they redid "Epic" by Faith No More, with their own little twist of course. I really need to stop now. This is all about "covers."

I've heard King of Pain...not impressed. I downloaded that album months ago.
Metallica's remake of Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" was a hell of a lot better than the original, despite who wrote the song, Metallica just kicks Seger in the Jim Sack any day of the week.
As for other remakes, APC's entire E Motive CD had a ton of good covers on it.
There are songs that are better remakes than the original, it's just more often than not that the original is just loved so much that we are forced to say that the original is still better, even though the music, the singing and the actual performance of songs is better done by another band.
Sorry, Dio ain't got crap on Killswitch Engage. I just went to their concert on Jan 22nd here in Nashville and I'm TELLING you, they do that song GREAT justice. Howard is awesome, Adam is hilarious (Even went so far as to ask for directions to Hannah Montana's house so he could 'Power Jerk' outside her window) and the rest of the band is just plain FURIOUS!

Now I know not to take your opinion to be valuable on ANYTHING in terms of music. Did you re-read this after you read it? Read it again now. EVEN METALLICA SAID IT WAS A MISTAKE TO MESS WITH THAT SONG! METALLICA SAID IT! That remake was Terri-bull! As for KSE, they rock, but not as much as they used to. Look into their old stuff, their first album with former Lead Singer Jesse Leech. He had a more brutal scream and much better melodic range. He was an all around better singer than "The" Howard Jones.

Well, I HATE Metallica as people, they're a bunch of dumbasses.
That remake was AWESOME, I can't stand listening to Bob Seger's version of that song. The saxaphone or whatever he used was stupid and not very rock n roll at all....however a 6 string electric guitar in the hands of Kirk Hammett was a GREAT idea.
As for early KSE, I'm not much for the extremely heavy metal. I like Howard better, even though Jesse was a better singer. By the way, have you heard Jesse's new band, they SUCK DONKEY NUTS! Don't even waste your time, but then again, you don't want my musical opinion.

Dude Carnage that cover on the new atreyu cd is the crap, actually the cd in general is badass, they're comin to texas in april with avenged sevenfold, bullet for my valentine, and bless the fall, it's gonna be sweet.
But on the topic of covers, aaron lewis of staind's cover of pearl jam's "black" is badass
foo fighters did a live cover of elton john's "tiny dancer", it was hilarious
as is System of a down's version of Wu Tang's "shame on a nigga"

Atreyu isn't badass....they are the mega badass. That whole cd is amazing.

He has grown to impress me far better than I expected Jace, I will admit that. I just liked Jesse better. KSE Holy Diver and pretty much any song they write is pimp crap.

You know what would make the boards more fun?
A chatbox. The NSWA has had one for the longest time and it's great, it's a hell of a lot easier than writing a PM or a Post to get in touch with someone.
Think about it you guys.

I'm really NOT trying to go against everything you say Kirk, but I am going to offer my opinion.
I think those Chatbox's or Shoutbox's or Tagbox's, whatever you want to call them. I think they are annoying. Plus you have to refresh the page to see new posts. It's much easier to me to post on the boards, PM someone or just sign on AIM. I have alot of AWGers on my buddy list, if they are on the boards and I wanna talk to them I get on AIM and IM them. Except Adrian Young, who likes to get on the boards and not AIM. Then when I PM him to get on AIM he gets off the boards and gets my PM two days later. LOL.
